This function allows the VCR to switch back to play from record without having to press the STOP button. Pressing record PAUSE then pressing PLAY puts machine in to playback pause mode. Pressing pause again starts playback and makes available scanning, stepping, jog functions and also returning back to record. This makes editing more visible, precise and pleasant. To operate this function during a recording press the PAUSE button to place the VCR in the standby mode. Next press the PLAY button to put the machine into playback pause. Press pause again to access any of the regular playback functions. Once the desired location is chosen pressing PAUSE and then the RECORD button. This will return the VCR to the record standby mode. This will also activate the micro-timing phase (µTP) circuit to align the edit points. Recording commences once the PAUSE button is pressed. While the VCR is in record pause mode the speed can also be changed. This it is not recommended because it will interrupt playback continuity.
