INDEX MARKING SYSTEM

Index marking is a sorting system that inserts a short high-frequency inaudible tone in the monaural audio track. The mark is recorded every time REC is pressed. While it is being inserted the MARK button flashes. This VCR can sense these "silent" recorded marks and when it does the LED to the right of the button flashes. They can also be manually inserted or erased using the buttons (shown above). During playback, rewind, fast-forward and Betascan modes the LED will flash as a tone passes by. These alerts can be used for scene location, repeating segments and bookkeeping. If the REPEAT switch is set to ON this will cause the VCR to start playback whenever it encounters a marker. This automatic playback can be performed between two signals. For example playback is started at a mark, continues to an ending mark, rewinds, encounters the beginning mark and automatically begins playback. It will do this indefinitely until STOP is pressed or REPEAT is switched to OFF. Other possible repeatable combinations are rewind from the end to the first signal. From the last signal to the end of the tape or from the beginning to the end (uses no index signal). No mark is inserted if recording begins from the pause mode. Indexing marking can also be done externally too using a add-on device, click here
