POOR EXAMPLE (BAD CANDIDATE)
When examining a Beta for the purpose of estimating its value one must become a detective and look for clues that will give insight as to the kind of life it has had and how much it has suffered. Some clues are obvious and some not so much. What follows in this damage appraisal section is a look at some of the visual indicators that point to how to value (or devalue) an item. There are also mechanical and electrical considerations, they will be covered later in this discussion. For now let's look through the photos above, there are three, and look at how remarkable moisture and rust can impact a Beta. In this photo you see obvious indicators that water has come in contact with the surface. This is an which indicator of more problems on the inside. The next photo shows waters effect on the interior electronics. The last photo shows rust damage to the base frame and related components. Unfortunately a Beta in this condition doesn't have much value because it would most likely never operate properly, if a repair were to even be attempted. Still it would be of some use if the external appearance items were still useable. Items like the tuning and compartment doors, or the faceplate. Fortunately one doesn't see many units in this condition but it could still have some salvage value. Now let's move on to the next panel by clicking here.
