VOICE SYNTHESIZER (SPEACH)

Here is a unique feature that only appeared in three cutting-edge Betas. It uses a synthesized voice to speak ten different preprogrammed announcements along with some helpful hints and tones. To perform this useful assistance the VCR employs a special processor (IC module) that is interfaced with the clock/timer circuitry. Available is a selected vocabulary along with several special melodious sounds. The voice is not gender-specific. Accessing the information is at your fingertips by using the confirmation button. It lets you hear your timer settings and see your channel selection. It will also point out any setting errors, time overlaps, and more. This is important because this Beta can record four separate events over an amazing three-week period. That can be incorporated into the operation of the Betastack® cassette changer for a total recording time of up to twenty hours. Speaker volume settings are: loud, medium, and off. Illustrated below are the tones you will hear and the ten announcements. These depend on the event or when the confirmation button is pressed. Preceding a message, a special tone will be heard to notify you that a vocalization is about to occur. In almost all cases, the message is presented twice; exceptions are noted below. To hear them repeated, you simply press the confirmation button again. In the table below, the vocal announcement is in bold lettering. Note: There are no additional voice notifications when the Betastack® cassette changer is installed. It provides for one long recording using the cassette in the machine and those in the stack or a series of timed recordings (events) over all the cassettes or changing to another cassette at the end of each timed recording. It can also play continuously all the cassettes in the stack or rewind them all. Total available recording time twenty hours using four L-830 cassettes.
