MANUAL TRACKING CONTROL

When playing recordings made on other machines, using the tracking knob or the plus and minus ( + / ) buttons will adjust the machine for the best playback picture. Because there are minor mechanical variances from one machine to another this adjustment allows you to slightly move the control track's electrical center point. To accomplish this it slightly changes the processing of the magnetic pulse that was originally recorded on the tape. The VCR uses these to start each video frame. Adjustment matches the VCR to a pre-recorded tape. Every machine has some way to adjust its tracking. Adjustment is usually not necessary for recordings made on this machine. It's center point was adjusted at the factory. Some machines have separate tracking controls for their special effects that do the same function. The tracking control adjustment has no effect during recording.
