SL-HF2100 TOUCH PANELS

With the introduction of the SL-HF2100 Sony ushered in a new way to interact with your VCR. Instead of buttons you use two glass panels that are sensitive to the slightest touch of your finger. Located inside the drop down door there are two displays with a nearly invisible conductive grid etched on them. Below these are the illuminated clear plastic plates that have the wording for the locations of the contact areas (keys). Whenever the door is in the down position these panels are illuminated by the soft reddish-orange glow of hidden LEDs. Lightly touching the different positions on the glass imparts a command to the VCR. A processor makes sense of the active locations and issues the appropriate function. This system was also carried over to this Betas remote (RMT-2100A). Below is a graphic that shows the door and panels.
