IMPORTANT NOTICE!

The L-830 and L-1000 video cassettes are designed to provide extended play in an accurately operating Beta VCR. Prior to intended use, a test recording should be made to evaluate performance and picture quality. These video cassettes have been thoroughly field tested and functioned perfectly when used in a Beta machine that correctly traveled through the tape path. In all cases where any tape damage occurred it was traced back to the function of the machine as the source of the difficulty. Specifically it was due to wear or misalignment of the tape path components. (For more information about the tape path and how it impacts the Betas operational characteristics visit the "Beta Refurbishing" section in this Site or click here.) Tape path components within the machine are susceptible to the build up of debris and dirt, also the rubber pinch roller can become hard or brittle over time and some parts simply degrade from wear. All of these circumstances can act separately or combined to disturb accurate tape movement. Forward and reverse high-speed scans are especially difficult to execute properly if alignment is compromised. If the possibility exists that a Beta VCR might not be running in top form, these functions should be avoided when using the L-830 or L-1000 cassettes. Every Beta manufacturer recommends a cleaning and evaluation be performed on their models after every 500 hours of operation. I strongly support this maintenance routine, it is the most effective way to obtain the maximum benefit from your machine, and it will prolong the life of your tapes. After all, superior performance and picture quality is what having a Betamax is all about. The warranty for the L-1000 product covers defects in materials and workmanship only, it does not cover damage sustained to the video tape from misuse or from equipment generated mutilation.
