Sears sold a large number of Beta VCRs at competitive prices to VHS. All of their Betas were manufactured by either Sanyo or Toshiba, with the bulk being supplied by Sanyo. Each sear model was designated by the typical three digit group number followed by a decimal point then the model sequence and designation digits. Sears was the only major retail chain to exclusively sell Beta. Major electronic retail chains hadn't been invented yet. Sears abandoned Beta for VHS just around the time that Betahi-fi was introduced.
