SANYO BETAS

Sanyo was one of the heavy hitters when it came to moving Betas VCRs. They made and sold lots of models of all types, and they made them for other brand names so they could sell Beta too. Most were in the low to mid price range but they all worked well and delivered the goods. Sanyo got a lot of Beta machines into a lot of homes because they competed fiercely with VHS on price. There is one peculiar function that Sanyo Betas do that all Betas could have done. Most all of their models thread the tape back out of the tape path and into the cassette during winding. This function reduced wear on the tape path components, video drum and heads. The last Sanyo Beta machine, the 8700GM, was made for them by Sony and had Sanyo's on it. It doesn't wind the tape back into the cassette.
