SANYO BETA VCRS

Sanyo was one of the heavy hitters when it came to moving Betas VCRs. They made lots of models and types, and they also made them for other nameplates. Sanyo got a lot of Beta machines into a lot of homes by competing fiercely with VHS on price. Most models were low and middle priced units that worked well and delivered the goods. There was one peculiar operation that Sanyo Betas did that all Betas should have done. Most all of their models threaded the tape out of the tape path and back into the cassette during winding. This function reduced wear on the tape path components and video drum. The last Sanyo Beta machine, the 8700GM, was made by Sony (and it did not perform the wind back function).
