The RMT-217 shipped with the multi-format SL-T50ME with a silver cabinet. It covers most of the basic functions found on any Betamax. These include power on/off, play, pause, scan in forward and reverse, fast forward, rewind and stop. There are eight channel buttons direct access to preset stations. To prevent accidental erasure two buttons have to be pressed once. A red LED lights to verify function. Powered by two AA batteries. Operates on VTR channel 1. RMT-233 was available as an option.
