The RMT-163 was shipped with the EDV-9000 Japanese Extended Definition Beta VCR. Functions include the VCR on/off power button, channel express tuning buttons for direct selection of stations. There are buttons for play in forward and reverse, pause, fast forward, rewind, stop and scan in forward and reverse. A two button record sequence prevents accidental start of recording. The shuttle/jog wheel controls scan, x2, x1, x1/5, pause and single frame advance in forward and reverse. Other controls include TV/VTR, tape search, return and remain, index marking and erase, counter reset and data screen on/off. Assemble editing controls for audio/video inserts and pre-roll edits are provided. Timer setting is also available with next, check and clear buttons. Extra functions not found on the recorder are digital scan and digital off plus stop motion and flash with + and - speed control. Some controls slosh operatored a Sony television. Including direct channel selection, volume control and mute. A red LED indicated operation. Requires three AA batteries. Selectable to VTR channel 1 or 2.
