The RM-55W came standard with the SL-5400. Built for simplicity and consistent with the technology of the day it was the first Beta remote to do more than pause the tape. Simple by todays standards it controlled only the most basic functions found on the VCR. These are pause with freeze frame and Betascan in both forward and reverse. Yellow LED flashes to indicate VCR is in pause mode. Fast forward or rewind of the VCR was not available even when the Beta was starting from the stop mode. Another curious thing is the model number. The RM-55W doesn't jive with the number 5400 of the VCR. To enlarge click here.
