The SLO-1800 has four elongated standoffs (that Sony calls feet) in each corner on the back of the cabinet. These are here to allow the VCR to be set on its bottom without damaging the AC cord or the many connectors in the back. This allows this unit to be placed on the floor face up for temporary storage. For example removing it from a rack environment when its being replaced by another or waiting for repair. The power cord can also be conveniently wound around these feet to keep it out of harms way. This makes this huge VCR easier to control and quicker on the replacement. Important during production because it was all about time when this VCR was manufactured. The goal was making duplicate after duplicate with little fuss. Unfortunately these feet get knockout off or damaged and most units today no longer have them. All my units come with these standoffs. |
