This is a recording feature that saves aggravation, and can be a lifesaver when you want to immediately start a timer recording (and then need to depart). Pressing the "Quick Timer" button starts a timer recording without having to do all the set up. The first press immediately starts the recorder in timer mode and then waits about ten seconds for the first 30 minute segment to be entered. If no interval is entered after the first press the VCR will automatically turn off. Each press adds another 30 minute interval for up to a total of 5 hours. You can choose to do 30 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes, 2 hours, etc. At the end of the selected time period the machine stops the recording and turns itself off. But better yet if the tape reaches the end during a "Quick Timer" recording the machine will also stop, turn off and the cassette will not be rewound (like it would be if only the normal record button were pressed). During recording only the pause button is active. Recording can be ended by pressing the TIMER REC button. This feature can be used with either the tuner or when using the external A/V inputs. During recording the input or channels can be changed by pressing the pause button. The other Betamakers VCRs called this feature by various names such as OBR (One Button Record), OTR (One-Touch Record), SR (Segmented Recording) or RSR (Repeated Segment Recording). Listed below are the models that came with this recording feature. Click on the numbers to display that model in the browser center stage.
