Why would the Pontiac division of General Motors Corporation arrange for Sanyo to manufacture a special model Beta just for them? One with no tuner or timer yet have the ability to record? Why the nameplate "Pontiac Video Network" on the front? Was it going to used for dealer training or sales? Sony once sold professional Betas that were used for this purpose. Information about this curious Beta is almost nonexistent. I've been unable to uncover any reference from any source that would shed some light on why it was made and for what purpose. But it has to have been a very very limited production run.
