PIONEER BETAS

Why did Pioneer chose Sony to make two top of the line models with their name on them? Specifically the VX-90 and the VX-50. Both are almost the identical as the SL-HF900 and SL-HF400. The only real difference is the labeling and the addition of two jacks in the back to interface with Pioneers exclusive SR Link central control system. When these SuperBetahi-fi models came out Pioneer had a proprietary system that allowed the control of all your Pioneer equipment from one source. It used mini jacks and cables and was similar to Sony's Control-S system. And there are jacks in the back for this system also. Pioneer evidently looked at and liked the Beta format and more pointedly, the 400 and 900 enough to select them as the VCRs they wanted integrated into their SR Link family.
