NAVCO TIME-LAPSE BETAS

Navco Beta VCRs weren't the same as consumer units, they were made only for surveillance work. Their specialty was recording lots of video over a long period of time. This was accomplished by slowly stepping the video tape while employing time-lapse technology and single azimuth scanning. These units were used in ATMs, Banks, security buildings, and others to record events that occurred before a precisely located camera. These Betas were capable of playing consumer Beta tapes because one of the time-lapse speeds available was real time. But because they had video heads with the azimuths tilted the same way they didn't produce a good interlaced picture like regular Beta. For more about Navco VCRs click here.
