VIDEO AND MONITOR CONNECTORS

On the back of SLO-1800 are the two BNC VIDEO IN and OUT connectors shown above on the left. These are the connections for the composite video signal (NTSC 3.58). The intensity of the video can be modified by turning the VIDEO LEVEL knob on the front panel. A VIDEO LEVEL SELECTOR switch on the front below the knob determines if it controls the level or it is automatically controlled. The switch is normally set to AUTO so the circuits decide the optimum picture quality. The MONITOR connectors shown on the right are different from the VIDEO IN and OUT. These are used for quality checking the video (NTSC) signal and monitoring the switching pulse coming from the VCR. The RF BNC connector sends out the video signal and the PG mini plug sends out the switching signal. These two outputs can be used in connection with an oscilloscope or similar instrument to visually see a graphical display of the video envelope (RF) and the pulse (PG) that starts a frame.
