This Betamax provides a switch on the front for selecting the audio source from the tape during playback. It is identified as the BETA HI-FI/MIX/NORM selector, and it is used for playing the sound from just the Betahi-fi track when it is set on BETA HI-FI, or MIX, for a mixture of the stereo track and the normal (monaural) track, or NORM for playing just the conventional (linear) audio track. MIX is used to combine two separate programs, such as music recorded in Betahi-fi with commentary recorded on the monaural track. Switch positions do not affect recording.
