On the scope we have seen the waveform and now let's look at the physical travel of the tape. Examine the inset at the top. Compare it with the actual components in the photo. As you can see the desired tape travel across the guides and ACE assembly will not produce curl in any of the areas indicated. It is also the job of these guides and ACE to provide the proper tape position as it exits the drum. It must leave the drum and drum rail flat, smooth and squarely seated. The exit path, in conjunction with entrance, must be right on the money. This adjustment also greatly affects the tapes ability to run in reverse without damage. To begin click here.
