THE 711B3 CHASSIS DESIGN

The "B3" variation of the 711 chassis came in four configurations over its lifetime. They either employed a capstan-driven reel table or a single-pancake reel motor. Some had motor-driven loaders, and some had a cogged belt coming from the threading transmission. Some used the cam motor threading drive with a motor-driven loader. To some degree it depended on the year and the value of the VCR. Because the base frame was the same the 711B3 designation appeared on the front of the service manuals. The different models and their various design variations are listed below. Clicking on their model numbers will display them in the browser's center frame.

These models used a worm gear cogged belt-driven cassette loader transmission that also drives the tape path loading. They have a top pivot entryway door that swings upwards. The reel table assembly is driven by a single-pancake motor, and the capstan is separate.
