THE 711B CHASSIS DESIGN

The "B" variation of the 711 chassis uses a cassette loader that is driven by a cogged belt coming off the two-position tape path threading transmission. Shifting is accomplished by the pinch roller solenoid. They have a dual horizontal split entryway door. "BETAMAX" is usually printed on the bottom half. This flap design folds inward when accepting and ejecting a cassette. The top half flips upwards and the bottom half flips downward. The reel table assembly is driven by a single pancake motor, and the capstan uses a separate flat motor.
