While the SLO-1800 is OFF a cassette can be inserted until it reaches the staged position and remain available to load when power is restored. To use this feature the main power switch must be in the OFF position (with the white dot on the rocked lever pushed in). A cassette can then be inserted and moved forward until it encounters the locking stops. The friction levers will grab the cassette at this time and hold it in this position until the main power switch is moved to the ON position. The cassette will then load, thread and remain in the standby mode until an operation is requested. This function allows an operator to stage a number cassettes at a time in an array of recorders and have them load on demand.
