When this Beta was manufactured there were a large number of public cable channels available. It is able to receive EIA/NCTA standard channels through the tuner. You have to refer to the instruction manual to attain the correct positions on the tuner that applies to each channel. The designations are letters A through W and numbers 1 through 148. Encoded channels such as scrambled pay TV require a decoder in addition to the cable box.
