The first step when refurbishing a Beta is to open it up and carefully use compressed air to remove, dust, lint and tape shards from the inside. The upper panel (or cabinet), faceplate, lower panel and other appearance items are removed, inspected and cleaned or repaired. At this point would come the steps we have explored up to now but we are going to proceed as if all that was needed with unit was external cleaning and renewing.
