Under certain conditions, such as retiring for the night, it my be convenient to start a recording manually, and then set it to automatically shut off. To take advantage of this feature start a recording by pressing REC (record) then press the TIMER button. The display will show the STOP mode. Use the HOUR and MIN (minute) buttons to set the time you want for the recording to stop. When the stopping time is reached the recording will end, and the VCR will shut off. If the recording stop time is not set using automatic termination the recording will continue until the end of the tape is reached, then the VCR will shut off.
