Aiwa manufactured two Betahi-fi stereo VCRs. A portable unit in 1984 that had a detachable decoder/amplifier and a stand alone deck in 1985. Both had the standard or regular Beta picture system and recorded and , they would also play . Awia appears to have designed the electronics and mechanics for these VCRs but many Sony hard parts were used. Sony later purchased Aiwa and continued the nameplate on future products, but no more Betas VCRs were made.
