The superiority of the Beta picture was always a strong selling point. When Sony created Extended Definition Beta they pushed the luminance carrier signal beyond that of SuperBeta. This required the use of special metal formula tapes and the models were expensive, but the results was nothing short of spectacular. Over 500 lines of screen resolution and circuitry that produced a stunningly sharp, clean, clear picture. Nothing came close in the pro-sumer video market, not even DVD. The other format tried, but ED Beta stands alone as the finest example of home video technology. In the pictures above, and there are six, is the literature that accompanied the formats promotion.
