The following is a repair to the SLO-1800 plastic track-ways that the cassette loader carriage assembly travels in (the is called the FL assembly by Sony, for "front loader"). Sony, in an effort to make these units indestructible, cast polystyrene plastic to the metal tracks so that the loading action would be smooth and consistent under repeated use. Unfortunately the passage of time causes the plastic to shrink, crack and pull away from the metal, which in turn renders loading difficult to impossible. The only satisfactory way I have found to correct this problem is through a rebuilding of the assemblies and that process is shown here.
