TAPE PATH ALIGNMENT AND ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENT
Now we begin the tape path alignment so let's take a look at the various screws and collars that will be adjusted. Click on the picture. First we have the entrance path adjustments. There are three screws and one collar (the screw in the center of the number five guide collar is a locking screw that is used to secure its adjustment). These are adjusted to produce the proper angle and position of the tape as it enters the drum assembly. Click on the picture and lets look at the items involved in the exit side adjustments. The screw in the center of the number nine guide is another set screw and the number ten guide is not adjusted. There is a shield removed here that you will see in future pages and the pinch roller has been removed, this was done for better viewing. The two and three guides are not seen here but will be explained later, their adjustment is not as critical as the ones shown.
