MisterBetamax was contacted in early 2011 by a representative of Tibernia Productions in Hollywood. They were wanting to know which Beta model(s) would produce the best visual effect for their upcoming remake of the Swedish film "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". The Betamax would play center stage as the equipment used by a particularly sinister character in the film. He orchestrates terrible deeds for the camera and then keeps a video library of what he's done… creepy. They were looking for a certain type(s) of equipment to appear in several key scenes. It had to be the top of the line professional Beta since money was no object to the monster in this film (of course he is a member of one of the wealthiest families in Europe). We decided on several candidates which sent the Tibernia rep back to my Website for more information and pictures. The next morning I received an email informing me that they wanted to feature two GCS-50 editors, an RM-E50 controller and a GCS-1 SuperBetamovie in their production. Arrangements were made and that is how the MisterBetamax Company became the supplier of the Betamax equipment that was featured in their production released thru Columbia Pictures in December of 2011. This was a high profile film directed by David Fincher (known for The Social Network, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and Fight Club) and it starred Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright and Stellan Skarsgård. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is available on DVD. Columbia pictures is a division of Sony. To see the brochure for the Beta equipment shown in the movie click here.
